On December 27, 2008 @ 10PM ET at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, in Las Vegas, Nevada will kick off UFC 92: The Ultimate!

Main Event!
* Forrest Griffin vs. Rashad Evans wins by TKO in RD3!
* Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Frank Mir wins by TKO in RD2!
* Wanderlei Silva vs. Quinton “Rampage” Jackson wins by KO in RD1!
* CB Dollaway vs. Mike Massenzio wins by TKO in RD1!
* Cheick Kongo vs. Mustapha Al-Turk wins by TKO in RD1!

Preliminary Card!
* Yushin Okami vs. Dean Lister wins a UD!
* Antoni Hardonk vs. Mike Wessel wins by TKO in RD2!
* Matt Hamill vs. Reese Andy wins by TKO in RD2!
* Ryo Chonan vs. Brad Blackburn wins a UD!
* Dan Evensen vs. Pat Barry wins by TKO in RD1! (Via Leg Kick!)

Short Spladdle Summary!
Looks like Ryo Chonan is still kicking around, it’s almost like BLAF is hoping he and his flying heelhook win over Anderson Silva would go away silently into the night. A loss to Brad Blackburn and you can say goodbye to vengeance for Anderson. Matt Hamill got TKOed by Rich Franklin so he gets pushed into preliminary bouts in a fight with Reese Andy who just dropped a decision to Brandon Vera in a very boring match at UFC FN14.

A resurrected Antoni Hardonk takes on relative unknown in the undefeated Mike Wessel in what seems to be a “you better win and win impressively” as Antoni has been in 5 UFCs and seems to have 9 lives in the big show. The sleeper on the prelim card is the Okami/Lister fight. 2 great fighters in what should be an exciting bout. A win for either fighter will be a considerable boost to his career.

Call me a pessimist, but I don’t see a 3rd bout between Wanderlei and Rampage going any different. This is a fight where I am a fan of both and just want to see a great fight, which if the first 2 fights are any indication of, we will get that for as long as it lasts. I would imagine the winner would be in line for a shot at the 205# title. I’m picking Wanderlei to win by destruction again. :(

I am hoping and praying that Nog annihilates Mir. Mir has demonstrated on the past season of TUF that he has a superpower: how to be a complete and total jerk. He is at his best when he’s not talking. With one TKO to his credit, and considered to have poor cardio, most people consider the submission in the first round to be the way for him to win. The problem in front of him is the great Nog. Nog simply has more ways to win: better cardio, endurance, desire, striking, chin, experience, etc. What Mir has going for him is his craftiness with nailing submissions and his size. Like it or not, he can catch anyone on earth with a sub, however I think it to be unlikely. The template for 99% of Nog’s fights: keep it standing and bang away. Mir’s takedowns aren’t good enough to get Nog to the mat in any way other than some kind of guard flop. I see a standing KO or TKO for Nog in RD 2.

Finally, Rashad and Griffin will top off the night. While Rashad’s KO of Chack was impressive, it’s not typical of Rashad’s wins. Outside of his KO of Chack and his head kick on Salmon, he either wins by decision or gets a G&P win. I don’t see Forrest getting KOed standing or on his back. I can see Rashad nailing takedowns and grinding Forrest with G&P and picking up a decision. Considering this is a 5 rounder, maybe fatigue will open up a finish that wouldn’t be there in a 3 rounder. I think Forrest’s conditioning and pace will take it’s toll in the 4th or 5th round. If Rashad slacked on his training at all, he will suffer unless he can get that hail mary kick or punch early on. I am picking Forrest to take this one.

Possible Franklin.Hendo fight in Dublin!
Though not official, it appears a matchup between Rich Franklin and Dan Henderson will happen at an unnamed UFC event that is tentatively scheduled for Jan. 17 at The 02 in Dublin, Ireland. This amidst earlier rumors that Franklin could fight Chuck Liddell or Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. What is NOT known is whether this fight will take place at Light Heavyweight (205#) or Middleweight (185#) or whether the fight will be a main event or headline fight.
