Lamont Lister (205#s) vs. Aaron Stark (205#s)
John Franchi (155#s) vs. Frank Latina (152#s)
Ryan Schultz as you may recall is responsible for the brutal highlight KO of Chris Horodecki a few months back. Roy Nelson is coming off a big TKO win over Anton Jaoude. The Roy Nelson and Brad Imes fight should be pretty entertaining.
[2]. Sherdog has an article up on Kimbo about rumors of a fight with Tyson. I heard BJ Penn’s grandmother is trying to set up a match also.
Apparently, Gary Shaw squashes any rumor by stating:
“I have had no discussions with Mike or anybody surrounding Mike. I know Mike and yes, I would make that fight in a heartbeat…”
Will the MMA world just leave Mike alone, please!??!
Paul Buentello and Butterbean Esch have tossed down the proverbial gauntlet, but Kimbo has the biggest fight of his career in James ‘The Collosal” Thompson in front of him right now on EliteXC’s card on CBS on the 31st.
Shaw adds about a potential Butterbean match:
“”Right now, no. I don’t have Butterbean on the radar for Kimbo,” said Shaw, who added that he’s spoken with Esch about the bout. “I’m trying to get him in with more MMA fighters and bigger-time fighters, but there may be a time we’ll let Kimbo knock Butterbean out.”
Does anyone really want him to fight Butterbean? I think a Buentello fight sounds so much more exciting.
[3]. Speaking of EliteXC, tickets for their historic card on May 31st on CBS are selling like hotcakes.

Fight Card
Kimbo Slice vs. James Thompson
Robbie Lawler vs. Scott Smith
Gina Carano vs. Kaitlin Young
Phil Baroni vs. Joey Villasenor
Brett Rogers vs. Jon Murphy
Rumored to be on the card also are Nick Serra, Carlton Haselrig, Chris Liguori, and Zack Makovsky.
CBS has 4 such events scheduled for the rest of this year all on Saturday nights. They will be having a Saturday Night Fights like used to be done with Boxing!
Dana White to no one’s surprise has this to say about EliteXC and Kimbo:
“To have CBS, a big network like that, move forward with a guy like Kimbo Slice headlining it – there’s no secret, that’s what I tried to stay away from. Kimbo Slice isn’t a mixed martial artist. This guy was fighting in your backyard three months ago, and now he’s going to be headlining on CBS. Personally, I think it sucks.”
Gary Shaw fired back with:
“In the UFC, nobody can be bigger than Dana White and the UFC. In EliteXC, everyone can be bigger than Gary Shaw, at least not in the waistline, but in notoriety and [they] can be bigger than our brand. It’s supposed to be about the athletes.”
Keep your eye on the Lawler and Smith fight. Both guys have ridiculous KO power and this fight will barely be a minute long. The Baroni/Villasenor fight should run about a minute as well.
As for the Kaitlin Young and Carano fight, it could possibly steal the entire show. Here is the BADASS Kaitlin doing her S&C:
And here is her KOing people:
[4]. Sean Sherk told MMAweekly.com, that his focus is his fight next week at UFC 84 on May 24th against B.J. Penn in Las Vegas, but he is still considering legal action against the CSAC.
“And there’s no statute of limitations as far as how long I have to do this thing by, so I’m still talking to my lawyer. We’re still working some stuff out, and after this fight, maybe that’s something that we can go back to.”
He also stated that he is so jaded with CSAC, that he has no intentions of ever fighting in California again. He still maintains his innocence.
[5]. MMAweekly also talks about UFC’s expansion into Germany in another step made by Dana White in his bid for world domination. From the US, to the UK, and off to Deutschland.
When asked about France, Dana responded by saying ““We’re focused on Germany, the Philippines, and Australia next.” He also later on mentioned Brazil. So, I guess that means no plans for France.
[6]. MMA weekly has also stated that a Roger Huerta vs. Kenny Florian fight has been confirmed for August at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn. “Dana White on Thursday said that the winner of that bout at UFC 87 is likely to be next in line for the winner of next Saturday’s lightweight title bout between current champion B.J. Penn and former titleholder Sean Sherk.
Well that about covers it! If you guys have heard anything else, let us know!
